I understand the importance of our connection to our whenua or land. I wanted to create a reflection of our Devine landscape from our Maunga - mountains right down to our beaches.

I understand the importance of our connection to our whenua or land.  I wanted to create a reflection of our Devine landscape from our Maunga - mountains right down to our beaches.
I am absolutely passionate about woodblockprinting.  The adapted Japanese process I use, allows the strength and beauty of our land to come to life through the carved lines and inked blocks.  It takes me approximately 100 hrs to draw and carve the multipleblocks required for one of the larger works.  A further 3 days to print up the blocks and around 8 days for it to fully cure or dry.  Each work is individually inked up, mixing colours for each detail.  The block is then rolled through my press, for each of the layers to sit upon the specialised cotton based paper.  Every work is lovingly created to give its own unique outcome, within the edition of the piece.   If you look me up on Facebook Nic Tucker or Instagram nic and craigtucker you can see me pulling the final block through the press to reveal the final result.
