Steve Molloy

Steve Molloy is an emerging New Zealand artist working predominantly as a sculptor. Currently he is producing works in wood, stone and metal, and is also developing works of photography inspired by the contemporary New Zealand landscape. Molloy began sculpting in Hokitika but has exhibited extensively in the North Island, also completing many commissions and public works. Molloy comes from a richly varied background from which he draws inspiration for his work. Themes he often considers involve his connection to the land and bush as much of his past work has been in areas such as the Southern Alps. He is also interested in the comparison from the north to the south of New Zealand due to recent journeys he has made.
Molloy is also an active member of Eco Artists New Zealand, a charitable trust which raises funds through the sales of artworks to benefit environmental projects in New Zealand, particularly focusing on native species and their environments.
