Artist Statement

It seems I am driven to fuse unlikely combinations in the pursuit of expression. Currently industrial components are sought and repurposed for ornamental use. Photographs become texture in digital collages and small machine parts are transformed into jewellery.
Torn between creating digital artwork and jewellery during my Visual Arts degree at NMIT (Nelson) I naturally concluded that I needed to do both. Consequentially I have these two avenues that I work in, sometimes they even merge.

I came across Steampunk a few years ago and was immediately captivated. Here was a style that incorporated some of my favourite obsessions. Relics from the past and mechanical workings mixed with adventurous fantasies of mad scientists and airship pirates. My darker leanings seem to dovetail very nicely too which I express by using aged and grunged textures throughout my work.
