Annemieke Farmilo

Annemieke Farmilo works with raw Pounamu (New Zealand Nephrite Jade), glass and other natural materials to painstakingly recreate unusual and dynamic art works from her  studio near Cambridge. By intuitively arranging these mediums she creates strong visual, yet peaceful, abstract forms depicting the more rugged New Zealand landscapes of water and land. Stunning Great Barrier Island gives her inspiration. 'While on my summer holiday, sitting fishing in our boat, I drank in the colours of day break and sun down and the visual masterpiece of ocean meeting a barren rugged coast. It is here reproduced in my art. ' Annemieke Farmilo.

Pounamu is revered by Maori as having life itself. It is sacred and highly respected and valued, Each one of these art pieces will become a national treasure. As far as the artist knows nobody else is making anything like this original art form using raw Pounamu to create unique artwork to hang on a wall.
