Jeanette Vickers

Jeanette lives in Mangawhai Heads, 1½ hrs drive north of Auckland.

Her all consuming passion is the weather, and what is the tide doing.  It is only when these two things come together can she get the photographs she wants.  Nature is a perfect subject for photography, and the seas colours and wave patterns are endless.  Photographing these patterns, be it with a macro, zoom or standard lens throws up many possibilities and discoveries.

It is a very hostile environment to take a camera.  As the more creative patterns occur when the wind and waves are high.  It is all worth it when she captures in a split second what she has been waiting for.

Jeanette won the Kaipara Art Awards last year (2011) for her photo “Wave Collision”.   She  has now exhibited in Mangawhai, Whangarei and Matakohe and Mairangi.  Her photos have also found homes in private collections in, England, Canada, USA and Australia.

These are her actual photos of the movement of the sea.  They are not photo-shop creations and they are originals
