Roland Baumgart
Roland is a carver/carving tutor and has a permanent workshop in Whitianga/Coromandel.
He rekindled his creativity after he moved from Germany to New Zealand in 1997 and began to carve in 2000. He started to tutor students in 2005 when he took over the workshop where he began his artistic challenge years before.
He developed his bone carving skills over the years to a high level and began to carve with different materials in 2008.
The other materials are Bull Horn, Goat Horn, Kauri Gum, Deer Antlers and Buttons. His favourite material is Merino Ram Horn because of its beautiful structure and colour.
All carvings are unique designs, very detailed and are finished to a high quality.
