Sculpture- 20 years working with recycled Industrial waste.
Interested in offcentricity, structure and form, re-use of old functional forms into the new. I am interested in the energy use of manufacture of the original metal items, and then the re-cycling into the new using the least amount of energy. Arguably it is sustainable sculpture.
Circles form a very large part of my work and thought process. The spaces inside circles that overlap are of great interest. Playing with the foundations to the universe, the sphere offers endless balance and undeniable beauty in its perfection.
Triangles being the simplest and smallest volume that a structure can hold also offer the foundations to all structural integrity, especially when interacted with the sphere the largest volume a structure can hold. The juxtapositions between these 2 forms create the foundation to a lot of my metal sculpture.
Circles often play a significant role in my painting and even lighting. These being two other areas of my work. There is then the mixed media of bring all together in environment making. Where sculpture, lighting, film and photography, painting, furniture all get pulled together, through there design, manufacture and then infinite arrangements for the purpose of domestic or public enjoyment.
