Writing workshop with Lindsey Dawson
Inspirit Gallery is proud to present 'The Story of My Life'
Give yourself time out to write about your life. Do it for you - for memories not kept and considered are memories forgotten. All you need for an intriguing and uplifting day is a pen and your personal powerhouse of experience. Lindsey Dawson has been writing stories for and about women since the early ‘80s - that's a lot of experience to bring to the table. She has authored seven books, including two novels, and created three national magazines, including the ever-popular Next, which she invented back in 1991. Her passion now is about helping women realise that there is no such thing as an ordinary life - and that they can be as strong, wise and inspiring as they want to be. Lindsey's been married a (very long!) time, has two daughters, one grand-daughter and one slightly mad cat.
A one-day workshop for writing about, talking about and celebrating who you are - a special event for women

Do it for YOU
We’ve all experienced big moments in our lives, but we hardly ever share them. This day is a great way to appreciate and deepen your story. The writing we will do (no prior experience necessary) can be the start of a journal you can keep adding to for your own pleasure or to hand on to your family. You come from a long line of strong, gutsy people. You wouldn’t be here if that wasn’t true. By writing about your life you’re doing them proud. And doing good for yourself.
Why this day now?
It’s all too common for many older women to feel a little invisible in a world that worships youth and beauty. This is a day for stepping into a deeper kind of beauty. In tribal societies older women are honoured for their wisdom. You can own that identity too.
You’ll create a unique notebook that you’ll want to keep adding to once you’ve returned home. As you progress, you will gain more understanding of the steps that have brought you this far. Soon you’ll be setting down the evidence of a life well-lived – your life, with all your memories of complexity, richness, drama and humour. It can be part-memoir, part-vision document, part-storehouse of everything that’s important to you.
Sharing stories is part of the delight of this course, so come prepared to read out loud to the group at least some of the writing that you’ll do. In the friendship that builds around the table, everyone gets to feels comfortable about this. The idea is to aid everyone in understanding and appreciating the great tales we all have inside us.
Fee $125
OR come with a friend and pay $230 for two – SAVING $10 PER PERSON
